How To Design An Office Space That Boosts Employee Morale (Collaborative post)

When you really think about it, office environments can make or break employee morale - a dull, cramped office space can totally zap energy levels, leaving people unmotivated and even miserable in their work, and that’s the last thing any business owner wants. But although designing an office that inspires creativity and productivity might sound like a challenge, it really doesn’t have to be too hard - in fact, a few simple tweaks can work wonders. With that in mind, keep reading to find out more.

Maximize Natural Light

Natural light is something that can really help when it comes to productivity and mood - no one likes working in a dimly lit space (it can even give you headaches and eye strain, so it’s best to avoid it for physical reasons, not to mention psychological ones), which is why it’s so crucial to ensure your office is filled with as much natural light as possible. If your space doesn’t have many windows, what about glass office partitions? They allow loads of natural light to flow through a space and that’s going to make the entire office feel a lot more open and bright.

On top of the fact that these glass partitions can add more light, they’ll also make the office feel a lot more modern and airy, and they’ll give the impression of open plan but also allow people to have their own spaces if need be, so it can offer everything to everyone, no matter what that might be.

Create Breakout Spaces

Sometimes you just need to step away from your desk to recharge (and actually, that’s something that’s really worthwhile and should be done a number of times through the day for the best focus and productivity). So in order to help your employees, you could create a breakout space or two (or more if you’ve got the space!).

A breakout space could be anything, depending on the space you’ve got and what you and your employees want, so you might have a cozy corner with comfy chairs or a lounge with bean bags, or separate games room, and so on. The point is, if you can give your employees a space to go to that means they’re not at their desk all the time and can move around and give their minds a rest, they’ll come back to their work refreshed and a lot more productive.

Incorporate Flexible Workstations

Not everyone wants to work in the same way or even in the same environment, and that’s fine - in fact, you can use that to make your office a much better place that boosts employee morale. To do that, you’ll need to incorporate flexible workstations because that’s going to give your employees the freedom to choose the type of space that works for them.

It might be that one person really works well at a standing desk, or someone else needs to have a quiet corner away from others to do their best work, for example. If you offer a variety of different workspaces, you’re allowing everyone to do what they need to do to work at their most productive, and in the end that’s the best thing for your business.
