byIt is quite a natural fact that effective teams lead to effective performances at the workplace. For forming effective teams, one need to focus on building team communication, which brings cohesiveness, sharing and participation in a team to get to performance-oriented work. When a team is well-coordinated which means integrated with respect to information sharing, the results are quite positive. It is such integral teams that bring the success and accomplishment for emerging organization. We are about to discuss here some basic principles and methods of managing effective communication. The focus will remain of how to manage communication in teams that could lead to good performance and productiveness of a respective team.
Manager as a Leader - Laying foundation of effective communication
A team is like a group of people brought together to one particular agenda or aim to accomplish. For such a group, a leader is required, who could keep the team disciplined, participative and highly motivated towards the aim. Yes, the leader is no one other than the manager himself, who is designated as the in charge of the respective team. The manager should be in the role of a leader, a person who keeps a comprehensive vision for keeping his team well-coordinated and like a bond that is never broken. Encouragement should be from the manager, who comes out a sort of mentor in the role of leader. The manager should encourage his team on sharing, participation, and proactive dialogue as this is how objective decisions in the team could be taken. Information should be like a message that is to be circulated to the entire team by the manager. This is how when manager gets into the role of a leader, the foundation of effective team communication is laid.
Manager as being a role model
The eyes of team are set on the manager, who is expected to be a role model and a true guide of the team. If expectations are from the members of the team to be participative, the expectations are there too from the manager to be cooperative and highly responsive. When manager himself gives timely feedback and is active to respond to team queries, the team will automatically become participative. This is something essential for information sharing and for developing team-coordination.
Manager has to come out as a mentor, an inspirational character from whom the team is truly inspired. This is important, as this is actually what brings the synergy in the team and its function. The manager has to be a democratic, visionary and a cooperative leader as these are the qualities what a team look up for building participation. Manager should be aware of the emotional and behavioral attributes of his team members, as this is what will bring trust in the relationship with the team. This is something which will evolve the communication in between the team, and with the manager.
Establishing the standards and making communication effective
Some regular things need to be adjusted to keep the effective communication going. The subordinates should be aware of the passed on information, the messages from the boss, and most importantly the updates that are being made on weekly or monthly basis. Meetings on 15 days could be sufficient to keep the team moving and working along with the standards. All mediums such as email, text, or live conversation, should be applied to make communication as productive as possible. These are some standards that have to be worked up by the team administration.
